The Governor's Estate Thornhill, the remarkable estate home of Frederick Bates and his family, is located in Faust County Park in Chesterfield, Missouri. Bates arrived in Missouri from Virginia in 1807 after being appointed Territorial Secretary, Recorder of Land Titles and a member of the Board of Land Commissioners in the new Louisiana Territory.
